Alternative Way to Remove Press On Nails

Writer: LeahLeah

a different way to remove your press on nails

Typically when you are ready to remove your nails, you either need to soak your fingers in warm soapy water, or you need to use some form of non-acetone nail polish remover. These options will either break down the seal between the natural nail and the fake nail, and/or will break down the nail entirely. But what if you don't have a bowl of water to soak your nails in? What if you don't want to sit with your hands soaking in chemicals for long periods of time?

Here are two alternative ways to remove your press on nails.

Alternative Method #1:

Grab some foil, cotton balls and warm soapy water

Take small strips of foil that you will be able to wrap around your fingertips.

Soak your cotton balls in warm soapy water and place the cotton ball on top of your fingernail, wrapping around slightly past the edges. (If you cant "soak" the cotton balls,

put a dot of soap and then run under warm running water.)

Take the foil and secure the cotton balls to your fingertips. Wrap the foil around and crunch it up so that no water seeps out. It should be a tight seal but doesn't need to be uncomfortable.

If you are "soaking" off dip nails or acrylics, substitute the warm soapy water with non-acetone nail polish remover. The press on nails will not need such a harsh chemical for removal.

I literally had to google this one time because I attempted dip nails at home with a kit from Amazon. Lets just say it didn't go well... but it taught me a new way to remove nails!

Alternative Method #2:

Grab a Vic Beauty Nourish Nail & Cuticle Oil

Swipe oil under and around the press-on nails using the applicator

Allow the oil to penetrate for a few minutes

Rock nails back and forth to see if they are loose enough to remove

Use additional drops of oil to help remove glue from nail bed

Wash cuticles and nail beds thoroughly with soap and water

I'll be honest, I was skeptical at first that this method would actually work. I tested it out to make sure I could do it before I shared with others. I think this is a really cool alternative way for when you're on the go, don't want to sit with your hands in a bowl for a long period of time, or if you are conscious of chemicals and are looking for a safer treatment.
