KidScape | Johnson County Museum - Overland Park, KS

looking for a new place to take the kids? check this out!

I like to take my kids out to new places as much as possible. I love exploring the area and finding alternative things to do, other than the park or an expensive arcade type place. I knew when I found KidScape that I had to share! We went about a year ago but my youngest was too young to play. We revisited recently and it was much more exciting since both kids could participate!

It is a really large room that is divided into different "rooms" or spaces that have different themes. There are so many fun and engaging activities throughout and it is easy to play for a long time because each space has it's own "thing" that makes it special.

There is a grocery market with baskets, a house with kitchen area, a farm with a horse that you can brush the tail, apple tree for picking, a theatre with dress up costumes, an area to create a puppet show and a school with a chalk board and books.

There is a construction zone with bricks and some dress up uniforms, a light up board with changeable colors, a jail, a boat with fishing pole, a diner, a hospital, an old wagon, a train station, a mail station, and a seating area with some baby toys.

My kids had so much fun running around and played for a few hours before I told them it was time to go. They honestly would have played there all day if I would have let them... They had an absolute blast! When we got there, we were one of the first families. It filled up after about an hour but it was nice having a bunch of kids to play with. It would be perfect on a day where the weather is not permitting "outside" play, plus it was only like $10 for all three of us to go inside.

There is also a museum outside of the KidScape area to explore and learn a little history. There are also special exhibits, programs, a store and other options available at the museum.

There is also an annual pass option available for return visits.
